Ideal Partner

German machine tools are in demand all over the world. The products are innovative and technically leading, the companies are internationally active. They offer their customers products, solutions and services from a single source. The achievements of the German machine tool industry have played a decisive role in shaping the still very good reputation of Made in Germany.

Success factors for the companies are the highly qualified employees, the good infrastructure at the production location Germany, the dense network of qualified suppliers and demanding customers, with whom new products are very often developed and tried out together, and last but not least the efficient research landscape, which ensures that the latest findings are incorporated into machine tools.

The VDW and its members are working intensively to ensure that the industry maintains and expands its international leadership position. As a member, you can benefit from a strong association, joint activities, experience and impulses from the industry. Get to know us!

Who we are:
The VDW, based in Frankfurt am Main, is the spokesman for the German machine tool industry. It celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2016. Together with the VDMA's Machine Tool and Manufacturing Systems Association, the VDW has around 290 predominantly medium-sized members. They represent approx. 90 percent of the total turnover in the industry of just over 17 billion euros.

The VDW represents its members nationally and internationally vis-à-vis the public, politics, business partners and science. It is also a competent service provider for its members in the development of sales markets, economic observation and market data collection, technical, economic and legal issues, cooperation with the international machine tool industry, standardisation and recruitment of young talent. On the basis of profound industry knowledge, it provides information and offers advice and support for individual questions and problems. Permanent committees and working groups ensure the exchange of industry-specific opinions and experiences. We regularly inform our members about current technical, economic and legal topics.
